First it was September 2007, then it was October 2007 and then it finally dropped in February 2008… that’s right after a long six year wait we have a new Kool G Rap album. So was it worth the wait? Well lemme be simple and fair. First up let’s talk about the music. Production comes from two vets in the game Marley Marl and DJ Premier, amongst others and guest wise it just features his boys the 5 Family Click and actress Haylie Duff. Strange? Well that’s not the end of the strangeness; the album only has nine tracks but then has two bonus cuts which with a total of eleven tracks after a six-year absence left me as a fan slightly gutted. Being fair as I always am musically the tracks do really impress and the first cut ‘Risin Up’ hits the spot and ‘I Feel Bad For You Son’ and ‘On the Rise Again’ also impress but the artwork didn’t. Somehow I feel this album could have been a better, there’s something slightly missing. Maybe it’s me just being greedy and just wanting more, but after a couple of listens I feel it could have done with more.
