Smif-n-Wessun aka Cocoa Brovaz are back with their fourth album simply entitled ‘The Album’. Here we see the Brooklyn duo of Tek & Steele take us through life with fourteen solid tracks. Fans of that ‘golden era of New York Rap’ will cherish and adore this impressive long-player. What’s nice about this album is that it doesn’t boast big-name collaborations just banging tracks from one-fourth of the Boot Camp Clik with the odd track featuring the likes of fellow New Yorkers Rock of Heltah Skeltah, Joell Ortiz, the Loudmouf Choir, Million Styles and Chuckii Star. Tracks such as ‘See The Light’ and ‘Still Fighting’ show how they have matured since their classic debut ‘Dah Shinin’ and the singles ‘Stomp’ and "Gotta Say It" show they still rep the streets. It’s mad to think their 1995 debut sold 300,000 and this superb album has just sold over 2000 when both albums in my eyes are equal in quality, originality and creativity. Go and cop this and get some real Hip-Hop music in your collection.
