23 Yr old London rapper Ketruth talks on how she got started in the industry and future plans

KetruthNAME: Ketruth
AGE: 23
FROM: N4, London, venture out often

WHERE WILL THE PUBLIC HAVE HEARD OF YOU BEFORE?
Some from open mic shows around London, college or club pa’s, local DVDs, a DJ Mo’Fire US based mix tape, few other CD and DVD projects in US but now to a wider audience via myspace.

WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON?

I am currently working on flooding London with the street release mixtape Let Me Be for the next couple of months. Am basically just about promo at the moment then moving on to having a part 2 DVD out later this year called City Rhymes.

WHAT DO YOU FEEL MUSIC OFFERS TO YOU?
To me it offers stories to those who can’t tell them it speaks for and to the masses. Its like food for your soul you need music. I need music it ads to my daily life I wake up while am getting dressed I got to put on something it could be from Tammi Terrell to Raekwon to Blak Twang. Anything it depends on my mood I have a vast collection. Music gives me the opportunity to express myself, my views, my experiences, my life hopefully to uplift or others to relate to.

WHO DO YOU LOOK UP TO (IF ANYONE) IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY?
Independent artist’s who make a living off their CDs, I think are healthy to look upon. Well as far as established industry I look up to people like Russell Simmons who obviously but in work to have accomplished all he has now. I look up to all those in the music industry that paved the way for the new hip hop era today.

THERES NOT MANY FEMALE RAPPERS TO BE HONEST, WHEN DID YOU FIRST DISCOVER YOU HAD TALENT?
From about the age of 16, I took part in a competition and came through the last final round and got to perform to a large crowd of over 1,000 people the feedback was good and I was encouraged not to stop rapping. I was always the dancer, the writer I always knew I had talent which drew managers and indie labels to me. But at that time I choose to further my knowledge in all forms of arts as I was real young and under my own guidance but had the knowledge to know I needed to educate myself to. So I enrolled onto film courses felt it’s always wise to enter the entertainment field with more skills regardless at the time living in a reception center with all types of people, drug abusers next door, to young single females raising their kids, I always used rap to express my feelings.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND?
My sound is pretty much Hip Hop, Rap, I’ve heard you sound as raw as Foxy sometimes, I’ve heard you remind me of MC Lyte but most importantly I just get told I sound like myself which is a good thing.

ANY MORE INFORMATION THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD?
Yes I would like to tell all readers to head over to my myspace page www.myspace.com/ketruth get a copy of my mixtape “Let Me Be” it’s worth picking up 100% so ride with me. www.ketruth.com
